ADCC Features in Amateur Photography
Please see the our Club in print below. Thanks to Gina for pulling our contributions together and coordinating the process, which she describes below.
During the early months of 2021 I was browsing some copies of Amateur Photographer magazine and my attention was drawn to the regular ‘Join the Club’ feature. I thought it would be good to see if the magazine would be interested in featuring Ampthill & District Camera Club, and raised the possibility with the club committee, whose members agreed. I sent an email message to the editorial team, and, after several weeks, I received a reply from the Features Editor inviting us to put together a description of the club and a selection of members’ images.
At ADCC we formed a small team to work on our feature. Writing the article was relatively straightforward as the Features Editor supplied a template to follow, providing us with a list of questions to answer. The hardest part was trying to keep to the word limit as we had so much to say.
In terms of members’ images, the Features Editor requested that we provide a selection of members’ images from a wide range of members in relation to age, gender, and photographic experience and ability to display a good cross section of members’ work. After much discussion we sent a selection to the Features Editor who then made her own selection of the images that would be published in the ‘Join the Club’ feature. We were given a date when the feature would appear in print. Overall, it was an interesting experience to produce this article, and the Features Editor was helpful and made it easy to achieve.
